A “wow” piece! Beautiful antique Chinese carved hardwood étagère. Gorgeous detailing.
Western homes in the late 1800s became maximalist and decorative. People collected objects and needed display furniture. "Oriental" carving signaled: Worldliness, wealth, and craftsmanship.
This Chinese carved hardwood étagère, or tiered display shelf, reflects the worldliness of a local owner's family, who had once lived in the Philippines. This piece has been in their family for generations...until now.
Intricately-detailed, this unique shelf is a fabulous display for special one-of-a-kind pieces, plants, and cozy accent lighting.
