These early 20th-century stained glass panels feature convex (crowned) glass, in which each individual piece is subtly curved rather than flat. Convex glass was difficult, labor-intensive, and costly to produce, requiring thicker glass stock, careful shaping, and skilled leadwork to accommodate the curve. For that reason, it was used sparingly and primarily in higher-quality architectural commissions.
Unlike standard flat stained glass, convex glass bends and refracts light, creating depth, movement, and visual warmth that changes throughout the day. It is rarely manufactured today and surviving examples are uncommon.
